Non-profit groups are scrambling to provide for those in need, and it's not just one or two that need help.
Just in time for the holidays, there are 100 free turkeys for families in need from the foundation started by Orlando resident and NFL star Chris Johnson.
Mayor Buddy Dyer also kicked off the city's holiday food drive. The Orlando Union Rescue Mission is set up to feed about 1,200 homeless people for the Thanksgiving holiday, but the sluggish economy might derail the annual event.
“We've actually seen a decrease in gift and kind items that are coming in," said Amanda Fewless from the rescue mission.
