One Homeless Night

One Homeless Night - September 17-18, 2010

Me? Sleep on the ground? Under a freeway? In the city?

Yes, you can. And when you do, you'll be helping the hundreds of men, women and children who sleep like that every night. It's more than just a great experience…

And whether you participate or give to support the cause, you're going to open the doors to new life right here in our community.

Each $24.72 you raise through sponsorship will provide one homeless man, woman or child a night of shelter and care including a hot meal, clean clothing and hope. We're challenging each of this year's participants to raise enough support to provide 10 nights!

Last year through One Homeless Night, more than 500 volunteers raised enough money to provide over a thousand homeless men, women and children with food and shelter in the Central Florida area.

7 ways you can truly help the homeless

  1. Never give cash directly to the homeless.
  2. Talk to the homeless with respect.
  3. Share God’s love whenever you can.
  4. Pray for the homeless.
  5. Be an advocate for homeless issues.
  6. Encourage the homeless to get help at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.
  7. Financially support the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.

Invisible Homelessness:

Breaking the Stereotype
Homeless probably isn't the first thing that comes to your mind when you see the Lane family - Darren was an entrepreneur and gifted writer. Cathryn's always dressed well and makes sure the girls' hair is styled to impress . . . yet not even this seemingly normal family could escape homelessness… read more>>
