Job  Title:  Cashier
Division: Bargain Store
Reports To: Store Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Is Number 1 cashier*
  • Must balance cash drawer at close of day*
  • Responsible for customer service*
  • Helps maintain appearance behind cash registers*
  • Stocks shelves as needed*
  • Display jewelry as needed.*
  • Monitors the sales floor*

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

 Math Ability: 

Ability to add, subtract, to multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
