“God is Here” – Grant Salisbury

This fall, thanks to Grant Salisbury, you might see commercials featuring the Mission on streaming services and social media. For eighteen years, Grant and his company, GFX Creative, have been creating engaging film and digital content for some of the most prominent names in virtually every industry. After a tour of the Mission, he volunteered to produce commercials to help people in Orlando become more aware of the plight of the homeless and the Mission’s efforts to address the problem. “The toughest thing was getting it into a 30 or 60 second spot, because it’s an emotional story, and you need a little more time for emotion,” he said. Grant took his camera and headed downtown, where he filmed and talked with many homeless people about their situations. “It was intense, really intense,” he said. “I was going home to my family, having dinner, sleeping in my bed, but all these people I spent the day with, they’re going underneath the underpass to get out of the elements, and then where? Where are they going? And where’s their next meal?” Why help the Mission? “Because God’s at the Mission,” he said. “The money donated really goes toward helping the homeless. It’s not like some big organization where you wonder where your dollars are really going. You can feel God’s presence at the Mission.” He encourages people to get involved. “Take a tour, start to donate. God’s here.” You can see more of Grant’s extraordinary work at GFXCreative.com.
