Celebrating Black History Month 2021 – Orlando Union Rescue Mission

The Orlando Union Rescue Mission was blessed to enjoy the company and talents of Ane Marie Tierney and her fiancé Chuck Browder, two very special volunteers who traveled all the way from Phoenix, Arizona to spend two weeks serving at the Mission. While with us, they tutored our school-age kids, taught in the pre-school, led kids’ Bible study, and delivered a homily at our Men’s Chapel.

A photographer by trade, Ane planned a special treat in honor of Black History Month. She organized a photoshoot for which O.U.R. Mission’s elementary-age children dressed up and posed as some of the most iconic and influential African American men and women in American history. The children were also tasked with researching their respective trailblazer and giving a short presentation on the exceptional accomplishments he or she contributed to this great nation’s legacy. We hope you all enjoy the final product as much as we all enjoyed taking part in the process!
