(Mother and Daughter Duo Kick-off Mother’s Day Weekend Inspiring Others)

Orlando, FL – Former Miss Florida Barbara Beck, along with current titleholder, Miss Orlando, Kelsey Beck, will serve as “Glam-Chairs” for the Orlando Union Rescue Mission’s (OURM) Inaugural Glam-a-thon. Ushering in the Mother’s Day weekend, the May 8th event is appropriately themed, “Queens in Jeans,” to highlight and celebrate the internal and external beauty of O.U.R. Mission Home residents. Joining the mother and daughter duo, will be Miss Teen Orlando, Leah Roddenberry.

Various businesses and individuals will join forces to create a Mission Glam Squad, designed to pamper OURM female residents and their families at no charge. Glam Stations will be set up in OURM’s Family Life Center Gymnasium, where moms can get “Glam-Slammed” by makeup artists and hairstylists, daughters can enjoy “Mini-Glam Stations” while sons and fathers will be offered haircuts and “MAN”-icures by nail technicians.

Reigning Miss Orlando, Kelsey Beck, will also share stories to inspire and challenge residents to move past their physical features, and celebrate their inner beauty. “I want residents to realize finding their purpose in life is true beauty. It’s not the clothes, or the makeup, it’s the heart where beauty is created, whether you’re sporting tiaras or t-shirts,” said Beck.
