Puttin’ on the Ritz
Women, girls show their inner beauty
Dozens of volunteers, several local businesses, and a team of young beauty queens teamed up to create a magical month of May for the women and girls staying at the Family Home.
On May 19, the women were treated to total makeovers including hair, makeup, nails, facials, and massages as part of our third annual Glam-a-thon. This year’s theme was “Created to Shine.” The women also received new wardrobes courtesy of First Class Cleaners and had the chance to view a talent show organized by Goodlif e 45 host Barbara Beck. Afterwards, the women enjoyed dessert at the Grand Bohemian Hotel.
The following weekend, it was the girls’ turn to shine in the “Show Your Sparkle Pageant” – an event organized by 11-year-old Sophie Schaked, the USAAmbassador Preteen. Sophie and a group of her pageant sisters took the Mission’s girls via limousine to the spa at JCPenney, where they received makeovers. The next day, the girls dressed up in pageant gowns (which they kept) and put on a pageant in front of friends and family.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our women and girls feel beautiful – both inside and out!
